Small business owners always want a website! It is what they are comfortable with because they have been around a long time and they worry that a blog will be ugly and hurt their business image. Sigh. Websites HAVE been around a long time and have not kept up with the internet.
Here are my top ten reasons business blogs are better than business websites:
- Business Blogs PUSH information out to the internet. Business websites sit there and wait for the search engines to come visit them.
- Business Blogs are affordable (we make a basic one for as low as $500 WITH content and no monthly fees). Most Business websites charge “hosting fees” of up to $59/month.
- Business Blogs are easy to use – the template we use acts just like Word for entering data. Many of our clients have told us of fees as high as $65/hour just to make small changes.
- Business Blogs are easy to change – say you want to add a page, that is easy-peasy! Want to add a page to most websites – that will be extra! Pop it in the navigation in seconds.
- Business Blogs are MADE to be search engine friendly as each post is a separate opportunity to get a listing.
- It is easy to put your videos on a business blog!
- There are TONS of plugins to use for making anything easy. Adwords, there is a plugin for that. Contact us form, there is a plugin for that!
- Blog posts are easy to share – I send every one of mine to Digg, Delicious and Stumble Upon.
- Business blogs can be pretty like business websites BUT are more focused on providing great information than they are on be pretty.
- Business blogs are SO WONDERFUL. Okay that is subjective but I LOVE the ease of use, the timeline to understand how they work, the ease of integration and everything else that goes with having a blog instead of building a website!
